🚨 E-Scooter Safety Reminder 🚨

We're continuing to see concerns around the use of privately owned e-scooters on roads, pavements and in public places.

Did you know?

✅ Rental e-scooters can only be used in authorised trial areas and must be ridden in accordance with the trial rules.

❌ Privately owned e-scooters cannot currently be used on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes or other public spaces. They are only permitted on private land with the landowner's permission.

When e-scooters are used illegally, they can pose risks to pedestrians, particularly young children, older people and those with mobility or visual impairments. Riders can also be seriously injured if involved in a collision.

If you use an e-scooter, please: • Wear appropriate safety equipment. • Be considerate of others. • Follow the law regarding where e-scooters can be ridden. • Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol. • Be aware of vulnerable road users.

Our officers continue to engage with riders, educate the public and take enforcement action where necessary to help keep our communities safe.
